The Meaning

Sephira TIPHARETH

Pentacles are the element of earth and so deal with things on a material level; money, gifts and wealth in many instances.   We see there is a relationship of sharing, charity and gifting- but the generosity is measured in some way.  Perhaps the one giving is only giving what they will not miss.  Or perhaps is giving only what can be received.  Maybe he is giving in a new way than he has in the past.  There are many ways to interpret this card.

The card shows a power dynamic in which there is a stable situation between parties that relates to domination and being dominated. This could be between several people or between people and a situation.  In order for one to give there must be one to receive and so there is a dependency upon one another.  This is the balance of the universe, in a way, as everything is in relation to something else.

Perhaps the generous one is Life itself and that it is giving you exactly what you need at this moment.  It gives in relation to how much you are able or willing to receive.  Ask yourself  “Am I putting myself in a position to receive?”, and “have I opened myself up enough to be able to receive?”  Life is here for us and is willing and able to provide for us.  Are you willing to accept it?  How can you make yourself more of an open vessel?

I freely and generously give in the spirit of humility and receive with dignified gratitude. One is not greater than the other; each position gives rise to the other in inter-dependence.

The Plant Medicine

Plants chosen for their ability to open the heart, restore trust, and activate the creative life force.

  1. Walking Fern
    Asplenium rhizophyllum
Walking fern, symbolizes the give and take nature of our existence and the balance that is maintained when we both give and receive.  When you have plenty-share it. When you are in need opens yourself up to recieving. This fern is unique in that it will grow roots from the very tip of its outer grown leaf and root itself in the ground several feet from its original roots- in this way it literally walks the earth, giving of its leaves and rooting to receive nourishment.
